So it sounds like a girly book. I'll admit, it is at moments. But I think people who aren't girls might enjoy it too. Audrey was a normal teenager, anonymous in school. Not many people knew who she was until she broke up with her boyfriend Evan. Who just happened to be a musician, who just happened to write a kick-butt song about her, which happened to be a global hit. Now paparazzi follows her, and take pictures of her sleeping in English, or Christmas shopping! What's a girl to do? Not to mention that cute boy, James, she works with at Scooper Dooper, who barely said anything to her since she'd started working there. But when the song comes out and her lends his shoulder, what do think's gonna happen?
Lucky for her, she has a pretty darn amazing friend by her side. Would your friend dig for dirt about the rockstar you were caught kissing, or bring a sledge hammer to destroy his CD's and coffee to lift your spirits? Victoria is that girl you can count on to always get your back, because she isn't afraid to say what she tinks or die her hair blue or pink (okay, may i just say that it's pretty epic how that rhymed, and that she did die her hair both of those colors, but not at the same time.)
Robin Benway (no I didn't only read it because of the author's name) perfectly depics this sixteen-year-old girl's struggle with staying the normal girl she was, and the fame-loving girl everyone expects her to be. The voice of young Audrey is like that of many teenagers; witty, sarcastic at times, and down-right hilarious. Never doubt the power of Audrey Cutler and her words, because she has a lot of them and she knows how to use them. But beware- they aren't all young-ears appropriate (f-bomb, anyone? On like, EVERY OTHER PAGE!?!?!?)
if you liked Paper Towns by John Green, you're sure to enjoy this wit-tastic book.
Lesson to be learned: Don't break your wana-be rockstar boyfriend's heart. It won't go over well, for either of you.
And don't mess with Bendomolena. That cat is leathal!
